“Its not always going to be simple or fast but if you truly desire to succeed it will take everything you’ve got.”
There’s nothing more relatable than a small-town girl breaking free from the ordinary to pursue her “big city” dreams.
If you can relate to the girl-next-door gone rouge – then keep reading, because this one’s for you!
Her life was set up for white-picket fence, happy, and… normal.
Married to her high-school sweetheart, small town, good grades, impressive degree.
So many times, we let our environment define our path – but Madison shows us that being “comfortable” doesn’t bring success.
But when a dream hits, no amount of “ordinary” can hide you from your calling.
If you’re feeling like you’re unequipped for your passion, then you’ve got to steal some pointers from this soon-to-be J.Lo Wedding Planner.
- Tell me about yourself?
My name is Madison Moseley, I’m 24 years old, and I’m a Boss Babe.
A few ways I describe myself would be a wife, daughter, Christian, Wedding Planner / Chaos Coordinator, lover of food, and dog mama.
My husband is my favorite human on this planet and I could tell you why for days.
We found each other at the very young age of 13 and have been together ever since. He constantly encourages me to pursue my dreams no matter how far-fetched, standing by my side through it all. He’s just the best.
The number one reason I love him so dearly?
He brought me to Christ when I was 15 and still takes me to church every Sunday morning. No matter how late I got home from a wedding the night before. His love for the Lord is more than his love for me.
And that’s saying something!
- What inspired you to start this journey?
After my long awaited wedding ended to my high school sweetheart, I felt like my life had come to a standstill.
I had lived, breathed, ate, slept weddings and….
now it was over.
One day at my new job, I got the most random idea to start wedding planning. I ordered business cards and asked a friend what she thought about the name.
She ended up being a graphic designer who 100% launched my brand.
We went through two name and logo changes, a few website builds, expanded team, pricing sheets, t-shirt designs, and social media launch.
All that in just one year and it all started with:
“I have a crazy idea”.
- Why are goals important?
Goals are crucial!
Through all the set backs, defeat, crushed dreams and harsh realities, moving forward isn’t possible unless you have something you’re moving towards!
- What was the moment that you realized you hit a main goal?
The moment I got an actual lead from my website I had an overwhelming feeling of success.
Even if I didn’t make it any further, I reached someone outside of my small town circle and they believed in me.
- What goals are you currently pursuing?
I am currently working towards specific business goals that I have strategized with my team.
Setting our business goals up for 2018 was a big moment for us as a team because we are pushing toward the future and nodding our heads that we can reach for the stars and hit the moon.
Our top 3 goals include:
- Booking 10 brides for the year
- Increase our social engagement by 15%
- Develop a robust vendor list maintaining healthy relationships
- What has been your biggest set back?
I think my biggest set back so far has been time.
I wish I could spend all day looking at weddings and talking to brides all day.
But until I reach my business goals, working a full-time job and maintaining a business on the side is what I’m going to do!
- How did you finally end the cycle of defeat in reaching your goals?
Some may have viewed my bumps, bruises, or oops as “defeat” but I take every frustration as a chance to learn.
Becoming a “boss babe” isn’t something that happens over night and it isn’t going to always be fun or easy.
So every time I get frustrated or feel defeated I remember my goals, talk to my girls, and get moving again.
- What do you do when motivation is nonexistent?
Motivation is a difficult thing to come by these days with all the Netflix series and Facebook scrolling.
But I find that when motivation is nonexistent and Netflix has asked “are you still watching?” its time to get up and get moving.
I take a deep breath, jump up, grab my computer and find my quite space.
If I’m really on a soul search for some motivation, the Beyoncé Pandora station gets me moving. And on my bad days when I feel extra lazy I take the advise of the best doctors and “Dance it out” (Meredith Grey & Christine Yang).
My song of choice for such an act of happiness is Midnight City. I literally jump around the entirety of the song and when it’s over I feel like a new woman – a Boss Babe.
- How do you find confidence when it’s lacking?
My team is extraordinary and so much fun.
My confidence boost is never more than a text away.
I also married the biggest supporter and have a constant “I’m here for you” “I know you can do big things” whispering through all the noise.
- Who has been your biggest inspiration?
My biggest inspirations are my brides.
I’m always nervous when a meet a new bride because they have a lot of expectations and dreams they are entrusting with me on the biggest day of their lives.
Every time we meet or email they inspire me to work harder and do more through the Pinterest boards and excited comments.
Plus, I really love what I do, so I’m finding inspiration every day in everything I do.
HEALTH & WELLNESS
- How have you learned to love and respect yourself? Has health/fitness played a role in that?
This is a touchy one and not everyone will exactly agree or understand but that’s ok!
I was constantly skinny through middle and high school.
I mean a size 0 from Hollister jeans skinny.
No matter what I ate or how many Cookout trays I devoured I stayed that 0.
Well, working in your 20’s and married changes things slightly. And by slightly I mean 15 pounds.
Yes, I know that I’m a real women now and can’t fit in my little sisters clothes anymore so its not a shock its just a change.
Learning to love and respect that change was/is a struggle.
But through words of affirmation by my kind husband and cute outfits from Marshall’s, I’m finding that love and respect quickly.
It’s amazing what a cute tops, sparkly eye shadow and a quick “you look beautiful” can do.
- Your main healthy tip?
I’m not one to give health advice since I’m usually seeking it, but through it all I believe it all begins and ends with happiness and drive.
I choose to be happy in all that I do, all the while pushing myself to do more.
(She hit the nail on the head with that one!)
- What do you eat in a day?
I typically start with a protein bar or homemade breakfast protein burrito, 10 oz of dark coffee and a cup of water.
I grab a snack around 10:30 containing a crunch i.e. sweet potato chips then migrate to lunch that I brought from home usually being dinner from the night before.
I like to cook and I meal prep for approximately a month at a time stretching my groceries just as long.
It’s a challenge and I love it.
I cook dinner every night while decompressing about the day to Preston and vice versa.
On a night I made a healthy dinner, I’ll give myself permission to a small bowl of popcorn (my kryptonite).
- What is your favorite healthy snack/meal for busy days?
Sweet potato chips and a cold Piña Fraise Lx Croix.
- How do you deal with stress?
Pray. Make lists. Check things off like your Santa Claus.
Get stuff done.
And when it gets done praise the One that helped pull you through. (yesss girl)
- How do you balance health & a busy schedule?
That’s something I’m still figuring out. (Aren’t we all?)
Making things into a routine with my family is helpful.
Walking the dogs, making homemade dinners, and packing my lunch are just small steps I can take in the midst of my crazy schedule.
- Why do you think it’s so important for your success to adapt a healthy lifestyle (mind, body, spirit)?
The mind, body, and spirit are all connected and thrive off of each other.
When you are in good standing in your spiritual life it can help feed your mind when it’s feeling down.
If all three are thriving, your motivation can go into overdrive and you can become unstoppable.
- What roles have health/wellness (mental, physical, spiritual) played in your success?
Health and wellness not only play a role in success but just in a normal every day.
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle keep me feeling upbeat, on my toes, and prepared for whatever may come my way (good or bad).
- What advice do you have for other women hoping to start their dreams/pursue scary passions?
Just keep going.
Its not always going to be simple or fast but if you truly desire to succeed it will take everything you’ve got.
So girl, take a breath, dance it out, and take it one day at a time.
- What would you like to tell your 14 year old self?
Keep doodling those wedding dresses because the man you’re drawing them for will be all you’ve ever dreamed of and more.
You are meant to be in the wedding world so the binge watching of “Say Yes to the Dress” is 100% worth it.
Trust people – because they will help you more than you can help yourself sometimes, but maintain control over your future.
- What would you tell a girl who doesn’t feel like she’s worth feeling confident & seeing success?
What! Why? God created every single one of us in His image.
The creator of all things thought we were special enough to be of His image.
We have more worth than we can ever comprehend.
Your confidence stems from what you surround yourself with and what you feed yourself.
Self-doubt and women that don’t lift you up, wont do much for your confidence or success.
Prayer, praise, and a team of women warriors just might do the trick.
- What would you tell someone if they asked you “Where do I even start”?
Don’t give up just yet.
Take it a day at a time and learn something new every time you do something.
Surround yourself with women that push you to do more with every step and never question exactly who you are.
- What 1 piece of advice do you have for girls wanting to make a change?
Wanting to make a change is a big step whether it be a change in the world or in your daily routine.
And it requires one thing: motivation.
Finding that desire and planting the seed inside of you is just the beginning.
My advice however, is to find something close to your heart that you fully believe in.
The drive will be 10x stronger and when you do make change, it’ll be that much sweeter.
- If you had to tell someone ONE TIP to success over all else – what would it be?
Success is something we will all experience at some point in our lives whether it be big or small.
So take every win, big or small, and celebrate.
- How has your faith helped you reach this point?
My relationship with God is the main reason I have gotten to where I am now.
I’ve never felt overwhelmed or believed I couldn’t do what I’m doing because I’ve always felt Him in my corner leading me to where I am meant to be.
On the days that I’m worried or stressed I might have taken on too much at once, He calms me and provides all the reassurance I need.
It comes in different forms, usually through my husband and his encouraging words.
The Lord is with me always, no matter my success or defeat, but He is my constant rock.
