If you’re anything like me then you have lots of big scary goals in life – and you might also think that some magical opportunity is going to come knocking on your front door that will make those big dreams an instant reality.
I used to always play this scenario in my head…
Where a famous influencer in the fitness world would call me and ask me to join their team, or my dream company would randomly find me on LinkedIn and beg me to come work for them where I would be hired to encourage women in all things faith, fitness, and pursuing their purpose.
But… there was a flaw in that system. A big one.
What did I think I would I learn from a free-ride?
What made me think I deserved to cut in line and skip the hard work it takes to build a dream into a reality?
It wasn’t until this past year that I realized I had to put in the work.
I had to show up and be willing to look a little crazy in order to reach my end-goal.
So it’s safe to say that this conversation with Caroline really hit home.
She talks about her unshakable passion for fitness and how she finally decided to take steps to make that dream of hers a reality.
So keep reading if you need a kick in the butt to go after your “big scary dream”, or if you simply need a mid-week dose of encouragement.
“Tell me about yourself!”
Hi, my name is Caroline Foster.
I’m a 29 year old wife and mama – born and raised in the great state of Tennessee.
I love Jesus, coffee, beautiful farm land and am somewhat of a homebody if I’m being honest.
I work full time in marketing and run my own faith and fitness business/ministry in the cracks of my day.
I believe God has given me a passion for fitness as a tool to help women experience ultimate freedom inside of a real, authentic relationship with Jesus. (speaking to my heart, girl).
“Why do you think it’s so important for your success to adapt a healthy lifestyle mind, body, AND spirit?”
It’s not just a good idea- it’s the only way you will experience true freedom in your health, fitness and LIFE.
Freedom isn’t found in being super fit, having a Pinterest perfect home or having a bank account full of money.
It isn’t found in pursuing your passions, being married or being a mom.
Freedom is found in Christ alone and surrendering your life to Him. As an overflow of that you live in line with His word- PERIOD.
“What has been your biggest set back so far?”
Me putting my plans over God’s.
I actually don’t think I have had set backs per say, more of me just thinking it was time for ____ to happen when it wasn’t actually God’s timing.
This year I am focused on digging deep with what He has for me and listening to His voice > my own.
“Have you ever just been tempted to quit?”
Anytime you start something new you are going to face bumps and curves in the road.
I knew when I started that it was going to be hard but I told myself I would commit to a year- NO MATTER WHAT!
The days I wanted to quit I remembered why I started and committed to truly allowing the Lord to use my fitness as a way to make me more like Him.
“So, what would you like to go back and tell your 14 year old self?”
Stop worrying about pleasing everyone else and start focus on being obedient to the Lord! Make your goal looking more like Him. God is for you!
“Tell me how you finally ended the cycle of defeat in not reaching your goals?”
I started embracing the imperfect.
Instead of chasing after a perfectly put together life I decided to embrace the messy, mundane and sometimes checked off but not 100% beautiful.
For instance, I wear a lot of hats these days because who has time for clean hair? (lol sameeee).
This has given me a LOT of freedom and what I have found is that I actually tend to hit more goals that really truly matter instead of focusing on what everyone else thinks.
In my health and fitness, I realize that embracing intuitive eating and the way God truly created us to hunger and thirst is where I thrive best.
I’m not saying there aren’t seasons of extreme focus, but for the most part I just try to eat clean and listen to my body.
“If you would have never started pursuing your dreams, where do you think you’d be today?”
Dreaming about what God might want to use me to do!
I would probably be a fitness instructor on the side just so I could use my passion for health and women.
I am SO thankful I took the leap of faith and said YES to God’s calling!
“How do you think your spiritual life helped you reach this point of success?”
My walk with Jesus is the foundation of my ministry/business.
It is ALL about His Glory and making much of Him.
Serving women in fitness opens doors for me to point them to Jesus. That’s the ultimate goal!
I owe every ounce of success to the glory of God!
“What piece of advice do you have for other women hoping to start their dreams/pursue scary passions/make a change?”
Stop contemplating it and thinking you might be good enough- YOU ARE.
If God placed that dream in your heart it is there for a reason.
Maybe your goal this year is to:
- lose weight
- grow your business
- or grow in your walk with the Lord.
Here’s what I want you to do- go do it.
After you start doing that thing – that is when the motivation comes and the feeling, the energy, the momentum- that’s what will keep you doing it!
John Maxwell says:
“Motivation is like love and happiness. It’s a by product. When you’re actively engaged in doing something, it sneaks up and zaps you when you least expect it.”
So instead of waiting around for motivation or thinking a new year will suddenly grant it, make a commitment to yourself to start and stick with it for twelve months.
I promise that if you do you will fall in love with the process and results will follow.
“To to save the best & most important for last… How do you like your coffee?”
“So how can we stay in touch & keep up with your journey in pursuing your purpose?”

Y’all have to check her out! I have loved following her journey.
But the thing I loved most about speaking with Caroline is that she keeps it SO simple.
The takeaways that I got from this were:
- Just BE WILLING to start somewhere
- Aim to glorify God every step of the way
